The famous French knife company, Opinel, was founded in France in 1980, in a small village in the Maurienne, in the French Alps in Savoy.
In addition to the very famous hunting knives, such as the Opinel Carbone or the Opinel Inox series, this brand has extended its market far beyond pocket knives.
In fact, the Opinel line of kitchen knives is highly requested, with a minimalist and ever-current design, made of Sandvik 12C27 steel. This stainless steel to which chromium is added, in order to avoid corrosion, is considered one of the best steels for making high quality knives.
Today Opinel produces 5 million knives in France, establishing itself as a leading company in the sports and professional cutlery sector.
