SOG Specialty Knives, Inc. is an American company founded in 1986 by Spencer Frazer in Santa Monica, California. The name SOG means "Studies and Observation Group", an elite unit of the American Special Forces during the Vietnam War, and was chosen to represent the company's mission to provide high quality knives and equipment for the military and adventure professionals.

In the 1990s, SOG expanded its product range to include multi-purpose tools as well.

Today, SOG is one of the leading manufacturers of knives and tactical equipment in the United States, with a wide range of products aimed at military, police, adventure professionals and knife enthusiasts.
